Shortly Affluent February 22nd, 2007

Nothing new here, just wanted to share an old poem I wrote.

The poem sketches a summary of a typical person who chooses to take loans to live a short affluent life and forgetting the implications of living a lie.

Deprived from it
Am all alone
No where to live
I took a loan

Am buying a house
Facing the sea
I bought a car
Alas am free

Some people are over
And their friends came too
People I never saw
Well… maybe just few

Am having a drink
With the ladies around me
With laughter and joy
And music I enjoy

Three months have passed
The bank just called
Bring the money fast
The money from the loan

Too bad… Too bad…
I was drunk everyday
I didn’t realize
It was almost May
Back to my drinking
Senseless and not thinking

Two days later
The cops at the door
Knocking so hard
I raised the volume more

They barged right in
All the people ran out
Too drunk to run
I smiled and sat

Hands on my head
Tears I shed
All is gone
And all have fled

My house… My car…
Myself… and I…
So long… So long…
I lived a lie…
